What Is The Tesla Ridesharing Network

The Tesla Ridesharing Network is an ambitious project that seeks to revolutionize the way people get around in cities. By utilizing autonomous vehicles, Tesla plans to create a network of shared self-driving cars that can be used like any other existing rideshare service such as Uber or Lyft. The idea is that by having a fleet of self-driving cars in use, fewer cars will be needed on the road and people will have more reliable and affordable options for getting around their city.

The Tesla Ridesharing Network would make use of existing Tesla vehicles, such as the Model S, X, and 3. These vehicles would be outfitted with sensors and artificial intelligence algorithms designed to detect objects and respond to traffic conditions. Drivers would not need to be present in the car while it is driving; instead, they could summon a car from anywhere within a designated area using a smartphone app. Users could then select their destination and the car would autonomously navigate them there.

Very similar to May Mobility, Tesla's ridesharing network also has potential for providing public transportation services in cities where traditional forms are lacking or inadequate.

The company hopes to partner with local governments, who can commission fleets of Teslas as part of an integrated transportation system for citizens. This could help reduce congestion on roads during peak times and provide accessible transportation solutions for those who aren't able to drive themselves or use conventional transit systems due to disabilities or other factors.

In terms of when this system might actually become available, Elon Musk has suggested that it could be ready by late 2019 once the necessary regulations have been put into place allowing Level 4 or Level 5 autonomy (i.e., no human intervention).

As regulatory authorities get up to speed with this technology, it may only be a matter of time before we start seeing self-driving Teslas offering rides all over the world!

This program had not yet begun as of 2023. However, we have compiled a list of the best Tesla rideshare apps for you.

Best Tesla Ride Sharing Services

Here is a complete list of the rideshare apps providing rides with Tesla cars.

1. Revel

Revel Transit Inc., commonly known as Revel, is an American shared electric vehicle service based in Brooklyn, NY. It has operations in the following cities: New York City, Washington DC, Austin, Miami, and Oakland.

The Revel app allows users to locate, reserve, and unlock electric mopeds.

Very similarly to Zoomo, the Brooklyn-based company also rents e-bikes through a membership subscription.

In March 2021 the company first announced its plan to enter in the rideshare industry with a fleet of 50 Tesla Model Ys.

However, in July 2021 the city’s Taxi & Limousine Commission gave the authorization to Revel Rideshare.

And, as of today, the New York Taxi fleet can count 50 Revel Teslas.

Revel ride share is a new rideshare app in NYC.

When you think of New York City, the yellow taxis that you often see in movies and pictures probably come to mind. Revel cars are painted in blue, the same color of their mopped.

EV charging infrastructure can be hard to find in New York City, but Revel operates its own charging station in Bed-Stuy or in one of the Tesla-compatible charging stations available across the city.

Very similarly to RideAlto, the company does not use the same business model as Uber.

The company offers traditional employment to drivers who are Revel employees and not independent contractors.

Now that you know everything about Revel, You probably want to book your first eco-friendly ride.

Unfortunately, the demand for Tesla cabs in New York City is so high that there is currently a waiting list on the website revel.com for those interested in riding with the company.

Earth provides a cashless experience. This means that every ride is paid directly from the app using your preferred payment method (credit or debit card).

Unlike other apps, the Earth app doesn't have an in-app tipping feature. After your ride, you will receive a text message asking if you would like to tip.

If you want to leave a gratuity to your driver, you just have to reply back to the message with the amount you wish to tip your driver and it will be charged to the card you have on file in the app.

You are also allowed to tip your driver by using cash.

4. Uber

When it comes to sustainable rides, Uber is one of the companies that wants to have a role in the fight against global warming.

While you cannot find a tab for Tesla on the Uber app, you can easily book an environmentally friendly ride by choosing the green option.

Uber recently made a deal with Hertz. The new partnership with the rental car company will allow Uber to offer 50000 Tesla vehicles as a rental option to its drivers.

Uber drivers across the United States can make money by driving a Tesla with Uber.

To be eligible for the Tesla Hertz rental program, drivers must meet the following requirements:

  • Have completed at least 150 trips with Uber
  • Maintain a minimum rating of 4.85
  • Be eligible to complete passenger trips with Uber

The Tesla Uber service first started in November 2021 in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Washington DC, and will progressively extend nationwide by 2023.

I personally had my first Tesla Uber experience during my last trip in Paris. After a long hike, I wanted to come back home, and, of course, I booked a Green ride.

To my great surprise, when I received the confirmation for my trip, I saw that I will ride in a Tesla Model X.

Tesla’s vehicles are becoming particularly popular in Europe too.

The car was particularly clean and I really appreciated the heated back seats.

During the ride, I had a great discussion with the driver. From an Uber driver point of view, driving a Tesla with Uber is a great opportunity to save money by cutting your expenses.

One of the biggest expenses for rideshare drivers is the gas for their vehicles.

We often share tips to save gas money using gas cashback apps, GasBuddy Card, using Safeway gas rewards or finding cheap gas because we know that buying a new car for your gig is not always possible.

Keep in mind that fully charging the Tesla Model X costs about $15.29, which comes out to about 4.5 cents per mile. It will cost around $7.65 to charge a Tesla Model 3. Depending on the variant, this is between 3 and 4 cents per mile. If you own a Tesla Model S, you can expect to pay about 3.7 cents per mile.

That's one quarter the cost of gas for a car. Of course, the savings apply not only when you work with Lyft but also when you use your EV for personal use.

You can take a look at your city’s page on the Lyft website to verify the ride options available.

If you are looking to ride with Lyft in a Tesla you have to know that Tesla owners can sign up to drive with Lyft.

Tesla Model 3, Model S, Model X, Model Y qualify for Lyft Lux rides as well.

To be eligible and receive Lux requests, a driver must have at least 4.85 of driver ratings.

Becoming a Lyft driveris a great opportunity to make extra money while working with flexible hours. Driving a Tesla for Lyft can be even more lucrative.

💡 PRO TIP: If you like the idea of making money driving with Lyft, you can rent an EV vehicle via the Express drive program.
