What you have to know is that working with Amazon Flex can be extremely difficult. Thousands of people are waiting their turn for Amazon Flex jobs. Once you exit from the waitlist you will compete with all the Flex drivers to bid for delivery jobs and grab the best blocks.
In this guide I will tell you everything you have to know about Amazon Flex blocks. I will also share with you some legal tips to get more hours per week.
Unlike rideshare companies and other on demand delivery apps, you can't deliver packages all day long and whenever you want with Amazon Flex.
Amazon Flex uses a system of scheduling called “Delivery Blocks” to match labor supply to consumer demand.
Uber and Lyft for example to encourage more drivers to serve areas where there is high demand for rides use surge pricing.
A delivery block is a kind of schedule for deliveries. Amazon Flex shifts will appear on your Flex app.
Basically, depending on your availability you pick your own schedule. To select your shifts follow our step by step tutorial:
On the app you will find any kind of shift. Unlike the traditional 9 to 5, 40-hour work week, Amazon allows contractors to work with a flexible schedule and vary their arrival and/or departure times.
Flexible work can also include:
So if you are an early bird and like to wake up early, often you can select Amazon Prime blocks starting at 4:30 AM.
If you are a night owl and want to enjoy doing hobbies, activities or even another side hustle during the morning, Amazon offers night shifts starting at 7:30 PM and ending at 9:30 PM.

The blocks are first come first serve and are dropped by the warehouse in real time.
This means that usually the Flex schedule on Amazon doesn't become available at an exact hour of the day.
The number of Amazon shifts available vary depending on your location, the number of Amazon Flex drivers in your delivery area and the number available schedule. Keep in mind that for certain deliveries you must have a specific type of vehicle.
Blocks are released according to the specifications of the orders. So, there are several variables you need to keep in consideration that will affect the fact you can or cannot accept a block.
While Amazon doesn't take many holidays, they do observe Thanksgiving in the U.S. and other Holidays in the U.S.
Amazon Flexible shifts are not released the following days:
When all the blocks are assigned, you will get a message on the app: Amazon flex no offers available check back soon.

You can cancel a delivery block with your Amazon Flex app. However, you can forfeit a block at least 45 minutes before the start of your delivery block. This allows other independent contractors to get the delivery block and Amazon makes sure the deliveries are on time.
Of course if something happens and you need to cancel quickly, Amazon Flex gives you a five-minute window before your delivery block begins. In such cases, your delivery block will be referred to as a “missed delivery block”.
It can be a bit tricky. First of all, frequently cancelling blocks can affect the number of offers you see. Secondly, canceling or missing a certain number of delivery blocks may disqualify you from working as an Amazon Flex driver.
Additionally, since you are not an Amazon employee, you will not get paid.
The Amazon agreement does not clearly define how many cancellations or missed delivery blocks would cause you to be disqualified.
Our suggestion is to avoid canceling or missing many delivery blocks.
The goal of any gig workers is to earn more money. If you are looking for Amazon flex tricks to maximize your earnings, the main thing I can share with you is: grab the best blocks with the best pay before others.
Recently some people started to use illegal applications for the sole purpose of taking more blocks than others.
Very similar to Instacart shoppers and Doordash drivers, delivery drivers for Amazon are paying software developers who have created bot apps for Amazon Flex.
These third-party apps allow you to gain an edge and claim the best orders as soon as they are available in the app.
Amazon is committed to ensure safety and trust in the platform and to protect the delivery driver experience. In recent months, different Amazon Flex grabber apps have come and gone, sometimes using slightly varied titles, such as Blockcatcher pro...
We personally discovered nearly a dozen of Amazon flex block grabber scripts and active platforms advertising openly on YouTube and social media platforms, including Reddit.
Keep in mind that most of these apps like MyFlexBot, require you to pay for a subscription, and of course you have to share with them your access with the Amazon Flex.
Using an Amazon Flex block catcher is cheating and it is against Amazon’s policies.
The Seattle headquartered company regularly bans violators such as Amazon block catcher when they find them.
You should never trust and give access to your data to unauthorized third-party apps.
While this sounds like a great strategy, grabbing blocks using an Amazon grabber tool is completely illegal and you run the risk of getting your account deactivated by Amazon Flex.
This would be the right time to learn how to recognize a legit company.

Are you looking for ways to hack Amazon Flex blocks? Some gig workers started to use a software called auto clicker that can be used to automate the clicking of a mouse on a computer or the tap on the screen of your smartphone.
Some of these auto clicker apps available for iOS and Android devices are free.
Keep in mind that Amazon can detect that you are using an auto clicker. Your account can be permanently deactivated for using a macro system.
So, if you do not care about your gig, you can download the best auto clicker. Otherwise, follow our legal tips below.

Amazon has a reward program that is designed to help Flex delivery drivers earn more money and save money on gas and other expenses.
Delivery workers at least on level 2 get early access to schedule. Here is the detail:
In addition to recurring blocks, new delivery shifts are added to ensure the balance between delivery requests and delivery staff.
Of course, you want to be sure to fetch the new data available on the app. For doing so, you have to refresh the app.
When you swipe down, you should see a circular dial turn clockwise from the 12 o’clock position. Doing this, you will be able to fetch new data and get the new offers if released by the system.
Refreshing the app can quickly become a frustrating task. Getting creative is something I learned in my life.
So, If you are new to the app, at the beginning put some alerts on your phone and try to refresh the app at a regular time frame. Once the offers are released, take note of the time in a note. The following days try to login at this same time.
At the beginning it's just a matter of learning what the most recurring requests are, what are the most recurring times and and the best places.
You can eventually also find information about the release time in your area in some local Facebook groups.
Are you curious to know how the weather impacts our lives? Typically rains lead to a decrease of retailers sales.
However, thanks to on-demand delivery services, during bad weather days people increase their online ordering.
Additionally, due to inclement weather conditions, some contractors may choose to stay safe at home. Of course if you choose to work take a look at our guide with tips for driving in the rain.
Don’t be discouraged. Even though at the beginning it sounds like a lot of work, you need to give yourself the time to learn.
A reddit user found that the best time to get blocks is during your drive to your first destination after pickup, as well as during your drive back to the warehouse.
However because of the unpredictable and irregular work hours and the volatile income, you should not consider Amazon Flex as your unique side hustle.
Indeed, having little control over when or how much you work, you will have little control over how much you will earn.
If you are looking for other delivery package jobs with a part time schedule you can take a look at the following opportunities:
There were more than 200 million Prime subscribers in 2020. The Amazon software monitors the activity of millions of contractors to meet the demands of the Prime members that want to be delivered in 24 hours. However the algorithm can take away your task with a simple automatic email.
Flex workers are independent contractors and aren’t guaranteed a minimum number of hours per week. The e-commerce giant can even send workers home without pay if demand has slowed by the time they arrive for their shift.
Basically, Amazon can cancel your block and often you will get an email.
If you get the notification for the cancellation of your block 48 hours or more in advance, you will not get paid.
If your calendar is updated less than 48 hours in advance, you will get paid for the cancelled block. Take a look at our Amazon Flex driver review.
Now you know everything you have to know about Amazon Flex blocks. The release of the shifts is unpredictable, however during the Holiday season I’m sure there will be a lot of blocks available.
If you cannot work your shift, do not forget to cancel a delivery block by simply swiping into the app, at least 45 minutes before your time starts.
