Suzanne, a Dasher on Twitter said: “Alright major PSA, if you can afford to have food delivered by DoorDash or UberEats or some type of delivery platform, please for the love of God tip the damn driver! It’s so aggravating that no one tips anymore. End of my rant for the day.”
Another Dasher says: “If you’re ordering door dash from a restaurant that’s 30 mins from your house and not specifying a generous tip, you should expect to wait a long time for your food. No one wants to drive for an hour for a lousy $2 tip. Don’t want the expense? Pick up your own food.”
From a customer point of view, the Doordash business model, based on charging restaurants a percentage commission fee for every order made on its platform and customers with delivery fees, penalizes customers.
Despite the high volume of orders, prices have risen to absolutely insane levels. Drivers do not get tips because no one has any money left or wants to pay even more after paying the already high posted prices for the items they’ve ordered.

In the past, Dashers were able to see upfront information in a delivery request such as the Doordash base pay and the tip amount.
Recently, Doordash changed the information displayed on the delivery request by hiding any tip information included on it.
Without knowing in advance how much the tip will be in an order makes it harder for Dashers to pick the orders that will pay the most.
Basically, delivery drivers cannot reject low-paying offers and pick only the best orders to make the most money based on the tipping amount.
Recently, we received a message from a Doordash user feeling extremely offended. She told us that she ordered from Doordash not too long ago and got a text from her dasher a few minutes after.
He said “No tip, NO TRIP if you’re too cheap to tip you can get your food yourself gas ain’t cheap, bye”.
On social media platforms, the debate about how much money food delivery app customers should tip before or after receiving their meals - if any at all - has increased.
A TikTok video from a DoorDash driver shows a pile of bags filled with food orders that have allegedly been sitting at the restaurant for hours because no driver wanted to take them since no tip was included.
The TikTok user said: “These have been sitting here for 4 hours because no Dashers would take non tip orders. No tip, no trips, the worker told me no Dashers, Uber Eats, or Grubhub went to get the orders.”

In the United States it is customary to tip contractors. The one instance in which it is acceptable to not tip your Dasher is when you are extremely unhappy with the service.
Keep in mind that some Doordash issues cannot be fixed directly from the delivery drivers who are not always responsible for a customer's bad experience.

Keep in mind that after a customer complaint, a delivery driver can be permanently banned from the platform.
If you suspect or you surprise your Doordash driver eating your food, not only are you entitled to not tip but you can also report the problem to Doordash.
